Nearly 100 Kansas-based organizations and community leaders joined together in September 2005 to form the Coalition for a Prosperous Kansas. The Coalition is dedicated to protecting the Kansas way of life, and to maintaining and improving the quality of life for all Kansans. To that end, the Coalition for a Prosperous Kansas: 1. Opposes measures - like TELs and TABOR - that would tie the hands of state and local leaders, hindering their ability to make decisions critical to the short-term and long-term stability of our state and our communities; 2. Works to prevent the enactment of legislation that would implement statutory tax and expenditure limitations. This includes a so-called "taxpayers' bill of rights" (TABOR) and measures requiring a super-majority vote of the Legislature. 3. Educates its members and the public about the harmful affects that TELs and TABOR would have on the Kansas way of life.
